A free blogging trial is probably the best way to test the waters if you plan to start a blog.  Why free?  Well, I’m going to bet that your very first blog will be for more of comfort test than anything.   Keep the topic very light and only discuss the personal items that you have no problem with making public.

You may be passionate about a deep or more serious topic but your first blog is not the place to learm how to become a writer.

The beach, things to do on hot days, preparing for the SAT.  There is no need to discuss your location, or controversial issues as you begin to get a feel for how a serious of blog posts begin to tell a story.  I know, you were going to start a religious or political blog and I’ve just dashed your hopes.  Seriously, if you can site down on a regular basis and blog about things to do on a hot day, you’re not going to easily motivate yourself to write political commentary on a regular basis.

What’s that? you’ve had a practice blog for 2 months are are ready to more on to your master topic.  Well, congratulations.  Please share a few things you know now that 2 months ago might have spelled disaster had you started your professional blog without their preliminary experience.

I’d also be happy to hear from those that never used a practice blog.  Anything you’d share that would help others is very much appreciated.
