Are you the future great author of a book, magazine, or other literary work?  Perhaps you’re just like me and enjoy putting your thoughts and observations down in a place where others can see, enjoy, and comment on your creative writing.  A blog is a great tool for fine tuning your writing skills.  New bloggers often catch the attention of other creative writers and form a social network for constructive feedback and praise.  Social networking sites like FaceBook, MySpace, and StumbleUpon allow you to interact with other people with similar talents or interests and you can invite these people to read and comment on your blog.

Writing a blog also allows you to be completely random in your topics and stories.  A blog can be about anything and is normally organized in chronological sequence (like the chapters of a book,) but could certainly be mixed up in any manner you see fit.

Creating a blog for your own stories is a great way to write when you have time or feel the creative energy.  Need to change a blog post?  Just click edit and re-write your entry.

Remember however, any time you are writing with a web based WYSIWYG editor (what you see is what you get) you always run the risk of timing out or loosing your server connection.  It’s best to write offline in a file you will keep and edit (as your master copy) and then just cut and paste into your blog post entry.   I also recommend that you copy, CTRL-A then CTRL-C on a PC, allowing you to CTRL-V paste it somewhere else if the save fails when you hit the save or publish button.  Some blogs will autosave every few minutes anyway.  I’d hate to hear a new blogger spent 2 hours writing a brilliant creative post or story and hit save only to see an error message on the screen.
