A blog, after all, can be perfectly compared to a business entity. It has managers (authors), inputs (ideas and information), outputs (posts and articles), clients (readers), competitors (bloggers or other websites on the same niche), partners (blog networks, friends), performance indicators (traffic, RSS subscribers, incoming links) and so on. One thing that sticks in my mind is a quote from the Single Grain’s blog related to your own blog’s purpose:
There are 62 million blogs, why should people read yours?
This is an important point as it related to the quality of your blog content. Less is probably more. Get to the point, get the facts if your blogging about facts, and if it’s your opinion, then let people know it’s your own opinion. This is not to say that a well written blog post must be short. I’ve found that many blog posts are more intriguing than major newspaper articles cover similar topics. And a blog author can maintain the same editorial standards as a reporter.
As your blog author (the composer of a literary work,) you are creating new and original content. You are the editor (person who edits material for publication) when choosing or citing other resources. And you are the blog publisher, controlling every aspect of the online entity for your blog and domain.
