This is expected every now and then when you transmit the amount of data that these folks are handling.

Tags for content may just be the best organizational breakthrough for content in a decade. Tags eliminate the need for complex database files to classify content and allow the blog author to use keywords as the “tags” to identify and classify content.

Blogs have traditionally allowed authors to post or assign blog entries to one or multiple categories. The use of “tagging” gives you one additional dimension to add many keywords relative to your content. Each blog post with the same tag identifier can easily be found by your readers by simply clicking on the tags. If a reader is interested in finding all the posts about a certain keyword or phrase, they can easily search multiple entries tagged with the same blog tag. Read the rest of this entry »

I enjoyed this Pureblogging.com guest post by Michael Martine (http://remarkablogger.com/) found on Digg as it gives new bloggers a great perspective of how to view the type of blog posts they may want to write. This also demonstrates the fact that while choosing your blog style and content niche you are likely to be much more successful if you choose a blog subject that you can write as an expert.

There are certainly blogs that are story and opinion related that don’t require an expert knowledge base but readers are always seeking information about topics that come from authors who are familiar with the scope of the subject.

For those of us just blogging for fun, expression, and to learn more about self publishing you probably don’t need to worry about tending to your blog every day.  For corporate blogs you’ll need more planning and attention to content and marketing.  And for those that are starting a blog to make revenue and large traffic, be prepared for a significant time investment.  See Court’s post here on a “flagship blog“.

Set your expectations appropriately to avoid getting discouraged about your blog popularity and visitors.  For personal blogs, give it time and have fun blogging for YOU first!
